How to avoid cheat scams
The cheat market attracts scammers because buyers are paying for something they can't verify and often can't dispute. Knowing the common patterns is the best protection. Here are the scams we see most and how to sidestep them.
Fake or cloned shops
Scammers clone a known provider's site on a look-alike domain, run ads, and take payment for software that never arrives. Always confirm you're on the official domain, and cross-check the provider against an independent directory before paying.
Malware in the loader
Some 'free' or suspiciously cheap cheats are wrappers for info-stealers that harvest your saved passwords, session tokens and crypto wallets. Never disable your antivirus because a loader told you to — that instruction is itself the red flag.
Reseller and key-resale traps
- Unauthorised resellers selling keys that get revoked after purchase.
- 'Lifetime' subscriptions from sellers that vanish in a month.
- Shared or recycled keys that are already flagged.
Irreversible-payment traps
If the only payment options are gift cards, crypto to a personal wallet, or friends-and-family transfers, assume it's because the seller wants to make refunds and chargebacks impossible. Prefer providers that use recognised processors.
Protect yourself
- Verify the official domain and check an independent review directory first.
- Read the most recent reviews, not just the overall rating.
- Never reuse your main game account or main email.
- Keep antivirus on; scan files; use a separate machine or VM if you can.
- Use payment methods that allow disputes.
FAQ
I think I was scammed — what can I do?
If you paid with a reversible method (card, PayPal goods & services), open a dispute immediately. Change any passwords you saved on the affected machine, revoke active sessions, and run a full malware scan. Then leave an honest review to warn others.
Are cheaper providers always scams?
Not always, but a price far below every competitor is a strong red flag. Treat it as a reason to scrutinise reviews, payment methods and support before risking your money or account.
